HARRISBURG – State Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) today announced the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has awarded $37,000 to the Franklin County Career and Technical Center (CTC) to purchased needed training equipment.
The school is one of 32 career and technical centers and two school districts that were awarded a total of nearly $1.2 million in grants across the Commonwealth.
“More students than ever before are realizing the benefits of career and technical training and the many lucrative career possibilities such an education can lead to,” said Kauffman. “With the additional of this grant, Franklin County CTC will be able to further enhanced its already outstanding educational programming.”
Specifically, the funding will be used to purchase equipment aligned with the needs of local employers for use in PDE-approved career and technical education programs and to provide hands-on training to students in those programs.
Under the program, the maximum grant is $50,000 and must be matched dollar-for-dollar from a local source, which could include local school funds or contributions from business and industry partners.
There are more than 80 CTCs in Pennsylvania that offer a combination of classes and hands-on learning to thousands of students in PDE-approved programs.
