Kauffman Announces $1.61 Million in Funding for Local Projects

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) has helped secure more than $1.61 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grant funding for local infrastructure projects and equipment purchases for area organizations that benefit the community.

“I’m pleased to announce these grants, which will ensure these beneficial projects move forward,” said Kauffman. “I will always advocate for funding for our community centers, fire companies and emergency management projects. I admire and love working with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, as they bring the community together to meet housing needs. The upgrades to the Corker Hill Mansion in Scotland (a site on the National Register of Historic Places) will allow more people to experience and enjoy the history of Scotland and this beautiful mansion.”

The following were awarded grants:

• Chambersburg Borough - $400,000 for infrastructure improvements to the Eugene C. Clark, Jr. Community Center, including a new HVAC system, air conditioning throughout the facility, new windows in the gymnasium and bathroom upgrades.
• Franklin County Area Development Corporation - $97,931 to purchase a box truck for Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County.
• Franklin County Area Development Corporation - $358,130 for the purchase and installation of an emergency generator at Menno-Haven’s Life Center. This system will better ensure the safety of nearly 2,000 residents and staff in cases of emergency.
• Greene Township - $136,666 for the purchase and installation of an HVAC system at the historic Corker Hill Mansion.
• Guilford Township - $92,000 to complete an HVAC replacement project at South Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.

“I also worked with Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-Franklin) to secure an additional $524,491 in grants for a new pumper tank for the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department and renovations at Totem Pole Playhouse.”

Grant award details are as follows:
• Guilford Township, on behalf of Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department - $312,191 for a new Seagrave Marauder Fire Engine to replace a 30-year-old fire truck that has reached the end of its useful life.
• Greene Township, on behalf of Totem Pole Playhouse - $212,300 to replace the deteriorating cedar siding and aging roof on the main theater and adjacent office building.

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
