Kauffman Honors Local Hero with Bridge Designation

WHAT: Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) will participate in the dedication of the bridge on State Route 533 over Muddy Run in Southampton Township as the Private First Class Dana Edward Diehl Memorial Bridge.

Diehl was a native of Shippensburg who honorably served his country as a medical specialist with the 25th Infantry Division, 3rd Squadron, 4th Calvary, Headquarters Troop. He died on Dec. 10, 1968, in Hau Nghia Province, South Vietnam, when the vehicle in which he was riding was struck by an explosive device.

WHO: Kauffman, PennDOT representatives and family, friends and classmates of Diehl.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 11, 9 a.m.

WHERE: The bridge that carries State Route 533 (Orrstown Road) over Muddy Run in Southampton Township.
