Kauffman Hosting Series of AARP Smart Driver Courses - Dates for May two-day course have changed

March 1, 2019

HARRISBURG – Seniors wanting to sharpen their driving skills and receive a discount on their auto insurance are encouraged to sign up to attend one of the upcoming AARP Smart Driver Courses being hosted by Rep. Rob. Kauffman (R-Franklin).
The AARP Smart Driver Course is offered as a two-day program for first-time attendees and a one-day refresher course for those who have taken the two-day course previously. The one-day refresher is only needed once every three years.

By taking the course, participants will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate their vehicles more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment.

The classroom course costs $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. There are no tests to pass, and upon completion of the course, participants may be eligible to receive Pennsylvania’s multi-year auto insurance discount for insured drivers age 55 and older.

“The course is offered on multiple dates throughout the year. For those who would like to sign up for the May classes, we have a date change,” said Kauffman. “Those two classes will now be held on May 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to noon both days. The classes were previously listed to take place on May 20 and 21.”
